P.A. Appreciation Week - Paul Peterson

October 6 - October 12 is Physician Assistant Appreciation Week Piedmont would like to recognize and celebrate the Physician Assistants who continue to go above and beyond for our patients. About Paul Peterson, P.A. PaulPaul has been part of the Piedmont team since 1995 and has well over three decades of of experience as a Physician’s Surgical Assistant. Paul, who plays an important role in Piedmont’s clinic, appreciates the fact that his job allows him the opportunity to get to know both patients and their families. Paul always strives to be an extension of the physician in the care and concerns for the many needs of the patients. Paul is a follower of Christ, an avid marathoner, and also plays the trombone. Learn more about Physician's Assistants Did you know? Visits, medical and surgical services delivered by a Physician Assistant are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurances. P.A.’s can:
  • conduct physical exams
  • diagnose and treat illnesses
  • order and interpret tests
  • develop treatment plans
  • counsel on preventative healthcare
  • assist in surgery
  • write prescriptions
P.A.’s acquire extensive healthcare training and experience before they enter an intense, three-year graduate-level program that requires the same prerequisite courses as medical schools. In order to maintain certification, P.A.'s must complete a comprehensive re-certification exam every 10 years as well as 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years.
